SERIAL STORY begins Feb. 2: Anna's Story, a nine-chapter historic family drama, is suitable for grades four and up, or as a read-aloud for younger children. One chapter will be published in The Post-Standard's e-edition and print edition each Tuesday through April 6. NIE BLOCK SALE Feb. 3: Bid on discounted restaurant gift certificates that have been donated to the NIE program. STOCK MARKET GAME deadline to register is Feb. 5: The game runs from Feb. 22 through April 30. This fun and educational game will help students in fourth through twelfth grades learn about business and investing. Click here for more information about the game and to register.
SLAM DUNK GEOGRAPHY deadline to register is Feb. 24: Click here for more information about this exciting program that combines math, geography and more with The Post-Standard's coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament. This program begins March 15 and ends April 6.
NIE WEEK March 8-12: The deadline to order classroom newspapers (e-edition or print) is March 1. A 49-page curriculum guide will be available on the NIE Blog after February 5. The guide includes lessons for grades 3-5, 6-8 , and 9-12 on these topics: financial literacy, nutrition, the environment, character education and information technology. Teachers who use newspapers in their classrooms during NIE week will receive a copy of the guide. For more information, email NIESupport@syracuse.com.
